WICHITA—It was a busy weekend for the McPherson 12U Reds as they traveled to Wichita to compete in the Play It Again Sports Big Firecracker Baseball Tournament.
On Saturday, the Reds dominated the Bel Air Bandits, 16-1. Both Jace Fitzmorris and Brody Seidl were 3-for-3 at the plate. Fitzmorris highlighted the Reds with a home run, Brenden Doile and Copper Holler added two more hits apiece.
Hayden Hoxie won his sixth game as the starting pitcher.
On Sunday, the Reds kept the momentum going by shutting out the Wellington Dukes, 13-0. Brock Richardson slammed his eighth home run of the summer, Ian Razak recorded a three-run triple.
Doile started on the mound and pitched three scoreless innings. Holler took over and only gave away one hit.
Next up, the Reds ran over the Wichita Nationals, beating them 19-4. Doile led the Reds as he was 3-for-3 with five RBIs. Fitzmorris was also 3-for-3 and collected four RBIs. Bayer White led with three runs.
Richardson was the winning pitcher.
Unfortunately, the momentum stopped there as the Reds were in a tight ball game against the Wichita Dodgers, but short in a 6-5 loss. Both Carter Allen and Razak were 2-for-3 at the plate, and Doile added two runs. Allen, Razak and Fitzmorris were pitching during that game.
The Reds are now 29-5-2 on the season.
