KANSAS CITY —The McPherson Lady Express Softball team traveled to Kansas City for a softball tournament and took home a second-place finish last weekend.

As a result, the Express are the Great Plains Federal Credit Union Team of the Week, presented by the McPherson Sentinel.

The Express includes all of the Mac County players. In 10 games, the ladies went 8-2 throughout the tournament.

In 11 hours of softball, the Express team had to fight their way to the loser’s bracket after a lost to Manhattan 3-1.

However, they found their way to the finals after winning seven straight, all back-to back.

The Express team comeback run came to an end after falling to the Fireballs 4-1.

“We are so proud of the girl’s fight, heart and spirit - teamwork at its finest,” Head Coach Lacey Morgan said.
