Stanion Wholesale Electric of McPherson recently donated $500 to support the McPherson County Sheriff's Office work with the DARE program. Deputy Temri Vogt is the new DARE officer for the department.

The D.A.R.E. program is a partnership with parents and schools to inform and educate elementary and middle school students about the dangers of tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, inhalants and other drugs. D.A.R.E. also shows them how important it is to make wise and healthy choices and how to deal with peer pressure to avoid negative consequences.

Funding for the McPherson County Sheriff's Office D.A.R.E. program comes from the alcohol education tax via the McPherson County Commission and donations to the annual McPherson County Sheriff Reserve, D.A.R.E. Program and the Special Response Team fundraiser.
