The McPherson High School girls tennis team is now two-for-two in winning tournaments.

Fresh off a victory at the Hesston Invitational, the Bullpups hosted their first invitational of the season on Thursday and won the team title. McPherson had a Team Red and Team White, with Team Red winning. Due to press time, complete results were not available.

McPherson flexed its depth in double as the first, second, and third place doubles teams all came from McPherson. Taylor Bruce and CeAnna Allen of Team Red defeated Perrin Schneider and Sydney Achilles of Team White in the finals, 8-3.

Schneider and Achilles defeated teammates Rachel Carlson and Patty Huerta in the semifinals, 8-4, but Carlson and Huerta ended the day with a win for third place, 8-2, over a team from Great Bend.

Carley Malm was McPherson’s highest placer in singles, as Malm went 3-1 for third. Malm fell to eventual champion Mallory Feather of Valley Center in the semifinals before finishing the day with an 8-3 win over Rachel Davis of Goddard Eisenhower for third place.

Taylor Berger of Team White defeated Maddie Dobson of Team Red for 11th place, 8-3.

The Bullpups have over a week off before their next tournament on Sept. 14. The Bullpups travel to Salina Central for a tournament that features some of the best teams in Classes 5A and 6A.
