CAMPUS — Fatigue was not an issue for the McPherson High School girls tennis team, who won its second tournament in three days Monday at Campus.

The Bullpups were anchored by their No. 1 doubles team of Taylor Bruce and CeAnna Allen, who improved their season record to 15-0 by capturing another title.

On Saturday, Bruce and Allen won the Salina Central Invitational, defeating a talented doubles team from Ark City in the process. The two doubles teams met up in Monday’s finals, with Bruce and Allen emerging victorious once again, 8-4.

In total, all four McPherson entries made the semifinals. In singles, Rachel Carlson made the championship, and finished the day with a 3-1 record for second.

Perrin Schneider also went 3-1, ending the day with a win to finish third. The doubles team of Sydney Achilles and Patty Huerta began the day 2-2 before falling in their final two matches to settle for fourth place.

The Bullpups accumulated 58 points to easily win the invitational. Wichita Collegiate was second with 45 points, while Ark City rounded out the top three with 42 points.

“It was a great day to be a Bullpup again,” head coach Tyler Brown said.

The Bullpups are back in action on Thursday when they head to Buhler. Along with Buhler, Wichita Classical, Clay Center, Concordia, Salina Sacred Heart, Salina South, and Valley Center will be in attendance.
