Amidst quiet fanfare colored in gold and blue, Dr Leonard "Lenny" Favara was inaugurated as the 14th president of Central Christian College of Kansas on Oct. 4.
Favara's history merged with Central's when he became a student in 1971. During his time at the school he was heavily involved in academics as well as athletics. He would go on to be a cross country coach for a short time before he felt called to other ministries.
As he worked in various ministry roles in Florida, Colorado and Pennsylvania, Favara found himself returning multiple times to Central in different capacities that included teaching, coaching and admissions. During those years, he also went on to complete his schooling and now carries a Doctorate level degree.
In 2000, Favara and his wife Dea, found themselves back in McPherson and this time it would be to stay. In 2011, Favara took on the role of Provost, or Chief Academic Advisor. When the previous president stepped down in May of last year, it was a natural fit for Favara to step in as interim president while the Board of Trustees considered the future of the school.
Because of Favara's faithful service and his passionate vision for the school, the Board believed that he should officially continue to carry the mantle of president.
Coworkers, colleagues, friends, family and alumni gathered at the Free Methodist church to celebrate Favara and his future at Central. All of them agree that Favara is a wonderful choice to help lead Central in the years to come.
