Celebrate in Lindsborg
Biennially, Lindsborg hosts a community-wide festival where community members don traditional Swedish folk costumes in celebration of the Swedish pioneers who settled the Smoky Valley 150 years ago. Svensk Hyllningsfest features art and crafts, special foods, ethnic music, and other special entertainment while Swedish folk dancers and musicians lend a unique character and spirit to the festival.
The festival will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Lindborg. A full schedule is available at mcphersonsentinel.com

Get Halloween started
The first night of The Haunted House located next door to the McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas, is from 8 to 10 p.m. Oct. 18. Cost: $12/advance ticket, $15/at the door.
Run Coronado Heights
The annual Coronado Heights Run will be Oct. 19.
The event features a 15K run, 5K run, 2-mile walk, or 1-mile Fun Run, you can choose your challenge! Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with races starting at 7:30 a.m.
The 15K run is composed mostly of flat, scenic country-roads with Coronado Heights Hill (a 1 mile running distance up a circular, rugged road) at the heart of the race. Aid stations and split times will be provided throughout the course. All runs/walks will begin at the intersection of Main and Lincoln Streets in Lindsborg and end in proximity to the start line.
Race numbers may be picked up at Vision_Tek, 121 S Main Street, prior to the race beginning at 6: a.m. All registered runners will be given a multi-colored t-shirt to commemorate the race. Registrations after September 27 cannot be guaranteed a shirt. Registrations can be completed active.com
Have some barbecue
The Elyria Christian School Annual BBQ Dinner & Bake Sale will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at the McPherson County 4-H Building, 710 W. Woodside St., McPherson.
Head to the Legion
Family Night at the McPherson American Legion will be 5 p.m. Oct. 17 at the post, 401 N. Main, McPherson. Proceeds from Family Night will benefit the Kansas Honor Flight and the McPherson Museum. Come get a hamburger, fries, drink, and dessert for the low price of $5.
