Gregg Daren Schafer, 50, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Monday (Oct. 14, 2019) with his wife and best friend, Paulette, by his side at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  Gregg owned and operated a cleaning service.

 

Gregg was born on March 5, 1969, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Stephen and Karen (Frederick) Schafer.  He graduated from Smoky Valley High School (Lindsborg) in 1987. Gregg was united in marriage to Paulette M. Goworko on May 25, 1996, in Roeland Park.  This union was blessed with two children, Grant and Gretta.

 

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 23 years, Paulette Schafer and children, Grant and Gretta Schafer, all of the home; parents, Steve and Karen Schafer of McPherson; brother, Scott Schafer and wife, Tonya, of McPherson; nephew, Connor Schafer of McPherson; dear friend, Frank Hidvegi of Sperry, Oklahoma; many other extended family members and a host of friends.

 

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 17, 2019) at Stockham Family Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday (Oct. 18, 2019) at McPherson Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. in the pavilion at Dyck Arboretum in Hesston. Elder Jason Trojack will officiate the service.  A reception will follow the memorial service and all are invited to join the family for food and fellowship.   

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Gregg Schafer Fund to benefit his children, Grant and Gretta, in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.  Personal condolences may be sent to the family atwww.stockhamfamily.com.
