Firefighters in Leavenworth County responded to at least two grass fires Thursday, according to an Emergency Management official.

No injuries were reported.

The fires came after the National Weather Service had issued a red flag warning for Thursday afternoon. The warning was issued because forecasters feared strong winds and low humidity would result in dangerous fire weather conditions as grass in the area remains dry.

Kim Buchanan, deputy director of Leavenworth County Emergency Management, said a grass fire was reported Thursday afternoon on 235th Street south of Springdale Road. And another grass fire was reported on 206th Street south of Evans Road.

Buchanan said firefighters also responded Thursday morning to the Leavenworth State Fishing Lake in southwest Leavenworth County. She said a fire reportedly had been left unattended in a fire ring.
