McPherson College announced on Tuesday afternoon that it’ll have a virtual commencement at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 24.
The virtual event was switched from a traditional graduation due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic and limitations on public gatherings.
"There are already too many hardships on students and families given this situation," McPherson College President Michael Schneider said in a school release. "Families have the current date saved, so we are proceeding with a virtual commencement to allow everyone an opportunity to participate no matter their location."
Graduates will be receiving their cap and gown in the mail before the commencement. Graduates along with their families and friends are invited to gather online as McPherson College facility members will recognize them with their degrees. The streamed commencement will feature formal remarks and slides of each of the graduates.
Prior to the virtual commencement, McPherson College will be honoring graduates and their activities on social media.
