McPherson Hospital announced Monday that current president and CEO, Terri Gehring, has indicated she will be retiring at the end of this year.
Gehring was named CEO in October of 2017 after serving the hospital for more than 35 years in various roles in health information management and as chief operating officer prior to being named CEO.
Gehring said the timing of her decision is based on a variety of factors.
"The time is right for me and my family, and for the hospital in general," Gehring said. "Despite the challenging time we are in, the hospital is stable and in a position to grow and thrive. I look forward to watching new leadership take the hospital to the next level. I’m also looking forward to spending time with my family, enjoying my hobbies and doing some traveling my husband Mike and I haven’t been able to do."
Gehring said she values the relationships she has built over the years at the hospital.
"This is the only place I have worked following my education so I’ve built memories and friendships that will last the rest of my life. I’m truly grateful to everyone who has impacted me both professionally and personally. This is a great community and I have appreciated not only the professional relationships but our partnerships with the community at large. I will truly miss coming to work, but look forward to new adventures."
The hospital board of trustees will be meeting soon to begin the process of selecting a replacement.
