Oscar A. Peterson, 95, of McPherson passed away at 11:44 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, peacefully, at Heartland Haven, rural Inman.

Oscar was born in McPherson on May 30, 1921, a son of Linda (Nelson) and Carl Emil Peterson.

Oscar attended Ashland Country School and attended McPherson High School, McPherson.

He was a member of First Christian Church, McPherson.

Oscar honorably served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II.

Oscar worked for Boeing as an assembler, doing duct work for a Heating and Cooling Company both of Wichita. After moving to McPherson he took over the family farm and he started his own company, Peterson Motor Service.

Oscar was a member of American Legion Post 24. Oscar enjoyed working on his farm and working on his mechanical projects.

Oscar Anyard Peterson was united in marriage to Mabel Leone Brown on Nov. 25, 1941 at the South Broadway Christian Church, Wichita. The young couple established their first home together in Wichita. In 1948 the family moved to McPherson. Mabel died on Aug. 29, 1999.

He is survived by his son, Clinton Peterson, of McPherson; his four grandchildren, Mike Peterson, Marty Peterson, Phil Heathcock, and Brad Heathcock; nine great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mable, a grandson, Tony Peterson and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Peterson and sisters Regina Lindinbaulm and Adeline Masero.

The funeral service will be held at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2nd, 2016 with the Rev. Tim Leaf officiating.

Final resting place will be at the New Gottland Lutheran Church Cemetery rural McPherson.
