Tahse Lynn Schafer-Collins

Tahse Lynn Schafer-Collins

Tahse Lynn Schafer-Collins passed away on July 13, 2021 after a 7-month battle with brain cancer. Tahse also battled brain cancer when she was 12 years old. She won that battle and beat the odds for another 18 years!

Tahse was born on June 12, 1990 in McPherson, KS to Frances Collins and David Schafer. When she was 2 years old, her mom married Trace Collins who raised her as his own for the next 29 years. Tahse attended school in McPherson and Lawrence Kansas and also Flagstaff Arizona. She then went on to attend community college at Coconino Community College in Flagstaff, AZ and Colorado Mountain College in Rifle, CO where she graduated from. She fought long and hard to graduate and was very determined to get a degree. Her family and friends were so proud of her.

Tahse loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends. She also loved to travel. After she won her first battle with cancer, she and her parents packed the RV and traveled across the United States! Oh, the stories that they have from that trip. Tahse enjoyed taking trips to the lake, Disney World, the mountains, cruises and all over the US and Mexico. One of her other favorite activities was hanging out with her friends and going to concerts with them. Towards the end, she looked forward to her weekly movie dates with her best friends. She also loved spending time with her brother Billy playing games, doing crafts, watching movies and making sure her mother's memory was alive to him. She had a love for any animal and frequently took care of the neighborhood animals. She spoiled her cat Tabitha rotten and loved her dog Friday.

Tahse leaves behind her dad Trace Collins and brother Billy from Rifle, CO, and her father and mother David and Cheryl Schafer from McPherson, KS; her siblings Nick and Ashley Schafer, Dustin Schafer and Haley Schafer and 3 nieces and 2 nephews all from McPherson, KS. She also leaves behind her grandparents Bill and Barbara Tieyah, Martin and Mary Collins from McPherson, KS and paternal grandmother Brenda Ward of Little Rock, AR; her uncle and aunt Ken and Bettina Stutzman from Windsor, CO, uncle Sonny Collins from Hillsboro, KS, uncle Jim Collins from Wichita, KS, cousins Marissa and Ryan Richard and Liam and Wesley Stutzman from Windsor, CO. Tahse had so many more extended family and friends that were like family that she loved dearly in Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arizona, California and many other states. She was preceded in death by her mother Frances Collins and grandfather Howard L. Schafer.

Tahse was loved by so many people and will be missed. We are all comforted by the fact that she and her mother are reunited and both are whole again.

There will be a celebration of life service on Saturday, July 31, 2021 in McPherson, KS at the First Baptist Church at 10:30 am and a visitation with the family in the East Room after the service.

Fly high sweet girl.
