Obituary

Daniel Lowell Chinberg, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

Dan was born February 23, 1931, in McPherson, KS to Edith Merriam Logbeck and Carl Evald Chinberg. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1948 before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1951. During his enlistment, he spent approximately one year in Korea. Following the completion of his enlistment, Dan attended and graduated from Tulsa University.

Dan married Marcia Scott in 1956. To their union three sons were born: Michael in 1958, Douglas in 1959, and Timothy in 1964. The family settled in Wichita where Dan worked for Boeing from 1959 until his retirement in 1995. During his time with Boeing, he was a Flight Test Engineer, working mostly on the B-52.

Dan enjoyed bowling, working on his cars, home improvement projects, spending time with his family, watching Cardinal baseball and Shocker basketball, and traveling with Marcia. Dan was very active in his church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where he served in many capacities.

Dan is survived by his wife, Marcia; his children, Mike (Carol), Doug (Kathy), and Tim; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dennis (Kay) Chinberg; his sister, Mary (Jon) Fetterhoof. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Dean and Vincent.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 pm at New Gottland Cemetery, McPherson County, KS.
