Gallagher 17-3

Peter 15-5

No. 5 Oklahoma at Iowa State

Gallagher- As much as the Iowa State faithful will show up for this game, I can’t see Oklahoma losing two in a row to Iowa State. Losing Rodney Anderson for the season will have an impact on the Sooners, but Kyler Murray is still healthy and will be the difference in this one. 38-24 OU

Peter- David Montgomery was a problem for the Sooners last year, and it led to him to have a breakout season in the Big-12 after that. If the Sooners shut him down, they might shut down the Cyclones’ offense. Losing Rodney Anderson is a tough pill to swallow, but the Sooners still have too many weapons, and Kyler Murray is already listed as a Heisman candidate. I don’t see the Sooners falling to Iowa State twice in a row. 31-10 OU

Rutgers at Kansas

Gallagher- Is this the game of the week?? No, of course not. However, it should be competitive at least. Good for Kansas winning a road game against an FBS school last week. But I’m going to need to see another win before I feel comfortable picking them. 27-20 Rutgers

Peter- Kansas could do something that they haven’t done in quite some time. Winning back-to-back.  Rutgers is a winnable game, and yet what’s winnable for the Jayhawks. Hopefully the emergence of Pookah Williams was not an overnight sensation last week. Expect to be close ball game. 16-13 Rutgers

Duke at Baylor

Gallagher- Both teams are 2-0, but Duke is substantially more battle tested at this point in the young season. For that reason, I’m going with the Blue Devils. 35-31 Duke

Peter- Duke lost an NFL caliber cornerback in Mark Gilbert for the season, and their starting quarterback Daniel Jones is out for a month due to a collarbone injury. The injury bug came in early for the Blue Devils, Baylor could take advantage of the lack of depth. 30-20 Baylor

No. 17 Boise State at No. 24 Oklahoma State

Gallagher- Two top-five offenses collide in Stillwater this Saturday in what should be a fun game. I could see this going either way, but everyone knows I’m not picking against my Cowboys. 44-37 OSU

Peter- Brett Rypien, already with seven touchdowns,  is underrated and has been under the radar in the past two seasons. This is a true test for the Cowboys’ defense before their conference opener. 41-34 Boise St.

UTSA at Kansas State

Gallagher- C’mon Kansas State. This is your week to show fans that this season will not be a major disappointment. The Wildcats need to find a quarterback this week. There’s an old saying, “If you have two quarterbacks, you have zero quarterbacks.” 35-20 KSU

Peter- South Dakota exposed the Wildcats and Mississippi St took advantage of the Wildcats’ weaknesses .Luckily for K-State, UTSA is in town, and it’s a good way to reevaluate who should be the quarterback of the future. Alex Barnes is the only positive note for the Wildcats as he leads the Big-12 in rushing. 24-7 KSU

Houston at Texas Tech

Gallagher- I have a feeling it’s going to be a long season for TTU fans. The offense isn’t as prolific as it has been in past, and the defense is a typical Tech defense. The Red Raiders will struggle blocking Ed Oliver in this one. 41-31 Houston

Peter- It’s going to take the entire front five and a tight end to block one guy in Ed Oliver, and he’ll still find a way to get to the quarterback. Houston made impressive win against Arizona, and could keep the momentum going at Lubbock. 34-24 Houston

No. 4 Ohio State vs No. 15 TCU (Dallas)

Gallagher- This would be a huge win for TCU and the Big 12. Ohio State opens as a 13.5 point favorite over TCU. Look for the Frogs to cover, but I’m going to roll with Ohio State in this one. 31-28 Ohio State

Peter- TCU could arguably have the best defense in the Big 12 led by their two pass rushers Corey Bentley and Ty Summers.TCU is still no match of the elite players on the Buckeyes squad. Nick Bosa is a freak of nature at defensive end and can cause problems for the Horned Frogs. 38-20 Ohio St.

No. 22 USC vs Texas

Gallagher- A matchup of two teams with all the talent in the world, but very little success to show for it. Give me Texas in this one just because. 31-24 Texas

Peter- I still remember the national championship onto this day. I think USc has the edge just because I think they have the better athletes. Texas is way too mediocre offensively and their defense does not mood me. 27-13 USC

No. 12 LSU at No. 7 Auburn

Gallagher- Yup, this one could go either way. Two very good football teams with lots of bad blood between them. I think LSU is an extremely solid team, but Auburn could be a sleeper to win the SEC. I’ll roll with them thanks to home field advantage. 21-17 Auburn

Peter- We all know Alabama is the superior team in the SEC West division, but winner of the Auburn-LSU game could get them one step closer behind Alabama. I think this match up comes down to Auburn’s offense led by Jarrett Stidham and LSU’s defense led by “Greedy” Williams. Look for a photo finish. 37-34 Auburn
