LINDSBORG— While the rain made life tough outside, the volleyball court at home was tough for the Smoky Valley High School volleyball team as they celebrated Senior night on Tuesday and hosted a triangular with Hesston and Pratt, losing both both ends of the triangular with the Swathers and Greenbacks.

The Lady Vikings spikers began on a high point by taking down Pratt in their first set, 25-18, before losing the battle in the final two sets (18-25, 15-25) and taking a loss.

In their second match of the evening, Smoky Valley battle hard and tough with Hesston before losing in straight sets (23-25, 17-25).

Among the team leaders for the Lady Vikings were Bri Franklin who led the team with ten blocks and five ace serves, while McKinley Johnson had 18 assists and Haven Sjogren was successful on defense with six digs.

“Pratt and Hesston are two strong volleyball teams and I thought we competed well against them,” explained Smoky Valley Head Coach Sharlene Ramsey. “We tried to make some adjustments but both squads had some big hitters that we struggled to stop. We celebrated Senior Night and thanked our seniors for their incredible commitment to our program these last four years.”

The Smoky Valley spikers will be back in action when they travel to Abilene on Saturday, October 13.
