The McPherson Pipeliners' new owner Chad Pinson has announced that Chris Dawson will be the new head coach and will begin make his debut in the summer of 2019.
Dawson, a Central Christian College graduate, will make his returned to McPherson after being named assistant coach for the Central Christian College baseball team after coaching for the Hawaii Pacific University.
Dawson was a former college baseball player playing one year for Hesston college before transferring to Tabor College in his sophomore year. While with the Blue Jays, he helped contributed with the most wins in a season.
Dawson is no stranger to coaching summer league in Kansas. In 2015, he was the head coach for the Salina Blue Jays, where he clinched a playoff berth in the National Baseball Congress Tournament in one season. Once that was over, he accepted an assistant coaching position with Hesston College.
Along with the hiring of Dawson, he will bring along Doug Gove as the Pipeliners' assistant coach.
Gove is going into his first year as a coach for the CCC Tigers after graduating. Before taking the position, he spent four years coaching for the FCA baseball club in Seattle,Washington.
The Pipeliners finished 10-26 last summer in their inaugural season. Despite finishing last in their league, the Pipeliners were to finish in the top three in the KCLB tournament with a strong consideration of making the NBC tournament after their tournament run. 2019 schedule has yet to be released, but their will be more competition for the Pipeliners coming their way after three teams from the Jayhawk league has merged with the KCLB last month.
