North Newton, Kan. – The Swedes men's soccer team finished the season strong with a 6-0 win on the road at Bethel.
All the action was in the second half. It began two minutes into the half when Jack Rhys-Jones, junior midfielder, dished a ball to Melvin Akingboye, sophomore forward, for a goal. Akingboye scored again five minutes later, this one off of the foot of Lisandro Nunez, sophomore midfielder. Nunez got a goal of his own five minutes later when Zen Baatjes, junior defender, passed one up to him. Rhys-Jones then scored a goal of his own in the 69th minutes before Akingboye then scored an unassisted goal six minutes later. Finally, Javier Zaragoza, sophomore midfielder, in the final three minutes of the contest.

The Threshers actually outshot the Swedes 22-16 but the Swedes put 14 on goal and made them count.
In the net for the Swedes was Michael Wick, senior keeper, who recorded 11 saves in his final game as a Swede.
