LINDSBORG—The Swedes men's basketball team was back in action today hosting no. 10, Briar Cliff University. Bethany was unable to overcome the chargers, falling 92-80 in the nonconference contest.
Bethany began the game on the heels of the Chargers, but a 10-2 run by Briar Cliff gave the Chargers a hearty double-digit lead. The Swedes were then tasked with climbing their way back into the game. While Briar Cliff was able to stave off Bethany's advances for most of the half, the Swedes were able to climb back to single digits just before the end of the half. Bethany was able to cut the lead to six before going into the locker room thanks to a buzzer beater three by Tyler Larkin, senior guard.
In the second half, the Swedes were able to climb back within one of the chargers, but they were never able to get over the hump and take the lead. Slowly, as the half went on the Chargers were able to steadily pull away from the Swedes before closing out the game with a 12-point advantage.
