LINDSBORG — The McPherson High School wrestling team picked up two easy dual wins Thursday night in Lindsborg.

The Bullpups throttled Chapman, 57-18, then turned their attention to Smoky Valley by winning 66-9.

Against Chapman, the Bullpups found themselves down 6-0 after the 106 match, but rattled off 27 straight points thanks to wins by Lorenzo Cain, Mya Kretzer, EJ Kretzer, Landon Crews, and Rhett Edmonson.

After losing at 145, McPherson went on another big run by scoring the next 21 points. Neil Raymond, Scott Radke, Jonah Clarke, Landon Frantz, and Mason Thrash all picked up wins.

Chapman picked up its final win at 220, but Jonah Scott capped off the dual with a win at 285.

Against Smoky Valley, the Bullpups were awarded 24 points before the match started due to open slots. Additionally, McPherson went 8-2 in the matches that occurred, with Smoky Valley winning matches by Jon Burks at 220 and Ethan Wampler at 285.

Smoky Valley and Chapman wrestled a close match, but Chapman came out on top late, 36-30. Justice Gardner (113), Devon VanFosson (120), Braunson Golden (132). Chase Pywell (160), Dax Hopp (170), and Ethan Wampler (285) all picked up wins.

The McPherson boys will wrestle in the Colby Invitational on Saturday while the girls will travel to Great Bend for a tournament.

Smoky Valley is also in action on Saturday as the Vikings travel to the Clay Center Invitational.
