TOWANDA—Before the McPherson High school High School wrestling team get ready to travel to Newton to compete in the Tournament of Champions, they had to warm up in a dual match with Circle High School on Thursday night. The Bullpups put down the Thunderbirds 63-15. The Bullpups are 3-0 in Division III matchups and 11-1 in dual matches.

It was a shaky start for the Bullpups after trailing 15-0 in three matches. Since then, the Bullpups pulled it together and never lost the rest of the night. Six of the Bullpups' won were by forfeit, and the rest was a clean sweep by the B-team.

"Circle had quite a few open weights, but our kids that had a match wrestled well," Bullpups' head coach Doug Kretzer said. "Nate Rogers, Jonah Clarke, Landon Frantz, Kourtney Craig and Alex Perkins got us on the board with wins. Everyone will get plenty of mat time Friday at the Newton Tournament of Champions."

The Bullpups now focus on the Newton Tournament of Champions, which will be all weekend. 100 wrestlers will be participating in this tournament.
