LINDSBORG— The Swedes women's basketball squad handled the York Panthers, winning the contest 57-35.

Bethany started out strong and stayed that way throughout the contest. The Swedes pushed their lead to eight points in the first four minutes of the contest growing it to 10 by the end of the first quarter.

The Swedes continued to show their offensive prowess in the second quarter steadily pushing their lead to a game high of 19. Bethany would go into the locker room with a 17-point advantage over the Panthers.

Over the third quarter, the Panthers were able to temper the Swedes offensive push in the third quarter. However, Bethany was able to still grow their lead by a small margin taking a 22-point lead into the last 10 minutes of the contest.

Finally, in the fourth quarter the teams traded baskets but York was never able to bring the Swedes back within range. Bethany's advantage they steadily grew throughout the game held steady and gave them a 22-point victory.

Sarah Bartel, senior guard, was the only Swede in double digits. Bartel had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. She led the team in both categories. As a team the Swedes out-rebounded the Panthers 53-36.

The Swedes return to play on Wednesday, Jan. 16 when they travel to Winfield to take on Southwestern College. Tip off for this contest is set for 6 p.m.
