FORT WORTH, TX—The Central Christian College took on their first Sooner Athletic Conference opponents of the season this past weekend as they travelled down to Texas to take on (RV)Texas Wesleyan University. The Rams, considered one of the top three teams in the conference, would sweep the Tigers in their three game series 15-2, 11-3 and 6-2.
The Tigers weren't able to get much of anything going all weekend, while the Rams were firing on all cylinders. In game one, the Rams scored 15 runs on 14 hits and eight walks, while the Tigers scored two runs on three hits and two walks. JD Noey and Titus Beachum each collected an RBI, driving in Tyler Brown and Shomari Cann. In game two, the Rams would score 11 runs on nine hits and five walks, with six of those runs being unearned thanks to five fielding errors by the Tigers. The Tigers' thee runs came off four hits and two walks, with two of the runs being driven in by Steven Monarres and Shomari Cann. Ryan Mota, JD Noey and Jared Jones would cross the plate for the Tigers' three runs. On Saturday afternoon in game three, the Tigers had their best pitching performance of the series. Jared Jones went 5.2 innings giving up six runs (five earned) on five hits and four walks with four strikeouts. Then Aydan Rolph and Bailey Jay pitched the final 2.1 innings without giving up a run. Unfortunately, the Tigers still couldn't get going offensively, scoring just two runs on three hits and four walks. Shomari Cann collected a two-run double in the top of the sixth inning, driving in JD Noey and Titus Beachum.
The Tigers' season record now falls to 1-12 (0-3 SAC). They will take a short road trip to Kansas Wesleyan University on Tuesday before Southwestern Assemblies of God University comes to town for a three-game series on the weekend.
