HILLSBORO— The Swedes baseball team finished up their final game with the Tabor College Bluejays. Bethany fell 10-6 from a late-inning run by the Bluejays.

Bethany started things off with two runs in the top of the second inning. James Duvall, senior outfielder, reached base on a Bluejay error before moving to third on a Braden Scrivner, junior catcher, single up the middle. Zac Myrick, senior courtesy runner, then came in to take over in the base paths for Scrivner. Joe Kelleher, junior outfielder, then singled through the left side to score Duvall. Branden Gonzalez, senior infielder, then singled to deep right field to score Myrick and move Kelleher over to third.

The Swedes tacked on two more runs in the top of the third inning. Tyler Horchem, senior infielder, doubled to deep right field before moving to third on a wild pitch. Duvall then doubled to deep right field to score Horchem. Scrivner was then able to single down the left field line to score Duvall.

The Bluejays scored their first run in the bottom of the fifth. The Swedes however, were able to answer with a single run in the top of the sixth. Justan Bailey, junior outfielder, reached on a walk before stealing his way to second. He then moved to third on a Bluejay error before scoring on Horchem's single to the infield.

Tabor plated one more run in the bottom of the seventh. Bethany was then able to score a single run in the top of the eighth. Kelleher started things off with a walk before stealing his way over to second. He then scored on a TC error on a Alex Martinez, junior designated hitter, ground ball.

The Bluejays then got their offense going with three runs in the bottom of the eighth before scoring five runs to take the win in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Scrivner and Horchem led the Bethany offense with two hits each. Four other Swedes nabbed hits in the contest.

Brayden McAlister, freshman pitcher, started things off on the mound. Through 6.1 innings he allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits. Josh Macat, sophomore pitcher, then came in allowing two earned runs on two hits in 0.2 innings of work. Cohl Bohannan, sophomore pitcher, then allowed one earned run on two hits in one complete inning before Jason Nowlin, freshman pitcher, allowed three earned runs on one hit in 0.1 innings of work. Finally, Gus Lopez, senior pitcher, took the loss allowed two earned runs on two hits in 0.1 innings of work.
