SALINA— The McPherson High School softball team finished their triangular in a split on Tuesday, beating Salina Central High School in game one, 8-3, and losing to Topeka West High School, 13-5. McPherson is now 2-6 of the season.

The Bullpups ended their two-game losing streak with an 8-3 victory over Salina Central on Tuesday at Bill Burke Park.
McPherson recorded 13 hits against the Mustangs. Taylor Bruce led the way as she was 4-for-4 with two singles, an RBI double and a triple. Addie Fitzmorris started on the circle and was credit the win after surrendering three runs off five hits and pitched 13 strikeouts in seven innings.
The Bullpups were off to a 3-0 start in the top of the first inning. The Mustangs added three runs to tie the game in the bottom third. Salina Central would go scoreless for the rest of the game. The Bullpups would stack up at least one run in the last four innings to capture a comfortable lead and the win.
The Bullpups also collected five stolen bases. Both Taylor Casebeer and Hope Wehrman each stole two bases, and Bruce took one.
Game Two: Topeka West 13 McPherson 5
In game two, McPherson didn't tally enough hits as they fell to Topeka West, 13-5. Topeka West collected 13 runs off 16 hits. The Chargers had two big innings that led to their double-digit runs. West picked up four runs in the top second and six in the top seventh.
The Bullpups had the upper hand early on when they led 3-1 in the bottom first. However, after the next inning, the Bullpups couldn't catch up to the Chargers.
Bruce also had a solid performance as she was 2-for-3 with a single and a home run. Brette Doile recorded two singles at-bat. All four batters recorded one RBI for the Bullpups.
Hailey Henson pitched in game two and lasted 1.2 innings after surrendering five runs off four hits, two walks and one error. Fitzmorris took over, lasting 5.1 innings. On the Circle, Fitzmorris would give up eight runs off 12 hits, one walk and three errors. She also pitched four strikeouts. Henson took the loss for the Bullpups.
McPherson will return home to host its league rival Buhler High School in a doubleheader on Thursday at 4 p.m.
