Game 1 Buhler 7 McPherson 3

All it took was one bad inning, and McPherson went down in game one to the Crusaders, 7-3. The Bullpups was able to win in the hitting category with 8-7, but was not able to produce enough runs.

Both Jakob Feil and Gabe Hoover were Bullpups' top hitters as they were 3-for-4 at the plate. Hoover recorded his first double of the season and Bullpups' first extra-base hit of the year.

As for Buhler, Ryan Anderson and Austin Spann were 2-for-4 at the plate. Four Buhler players each had an RBI in their win over the Bullpups. Taiden Hawkinson started on the mound for Buhler. For six innings, he gave up five hits only one run, also pitched four strikeouts. Feil made his first start on the mound and lasted 3.1 innings before being relieved by Tanner Cheatham. Feil took the loss as he gave up five hits and seven runs.

Both teams were even for the majority of the game. The Bullpups started to fall apart in the top of the fourth when the Bullpups gave up six runs off four hits and three errors. That was the end of Feil after the last run, and Cheatham took over as the reliever. Ever since their first run in the first inning, the Bullpups struggled to make hits and runs against Hawkinson. For the Crusaders, ever since they put up six runs in the fourth, they went scoreless in the final three innings. The Bullpups started to find a hitting groove in the bottom seventh when they picked up two runs off Hoover's RBI double and an error by relieved pitcher Ian Stubbs that would send Hoover home. Buhler's defense hung in there and Stubbs struck out Aidan Hoover to end the game.

Dylan Rinker started game two at pitcher and lasted four innings. Rinker gave up seven hits, three runs, two walks and three errors. Chandler Wiard and Aidan Hoover finished the rest of the three innings for Rinker.

Since then it was a defensive battle between the two league rivals. In the end, Buhler finished strong by picking five more runs in the top seventh to put away the Bullpups.

With the loss, the Bullpups drop to 2-5 of the season. The Bullpups will begin their one-month road trip next Monday at Andale High School
