NORTH NEWTON—The Swedes track and field teams were back in action at the Bethel College Invitational. Bethany was event champions in eight events.

The Bethany women had three event champions in the field events. Sophomore, Arriana Benjamin won the shot put with a toss of 12.82m. Freshman, Jasmine Youngquist won the high jump event with a leap of 1.50m while sophomore, Camisha Stevenson's mark of 10.16m was good enough to win the triple jump event.

On the track the women had two relay teams win events. The 4x100m relay team of senior, Sarah Bartel, junior, Molly Achterberg, sophomore, Destiny Spurlock and sophomore, Danesha Kendrick won the event with their time of 53.28. The team of Bartel, Achterberg, Youngquist and Stevenson won the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:47.

 On the men's side, sophomore, Bryce Carmack won the pole vault with a jump of 4.25m. Meanwhile, on the track, sophomore, Keith Israel won the 400m dash with a time of 52.16. The men's 4x100m relay team won the event with a time of 43.85. This team was made up of junior Terrell Rodriguez, freshman, Isaac Rodrigues, Isreal, and Dalton.

The Swedes totaled 27 personal bests in the competition, 14 on the women's side and 13 on the men's.

"Overall we had a good day despite colder weather and windy conditions," Swedes Head Coach, Aaron Yoder said. "I was pleased with how our teams competed, and we continue to move towards conference in three weeks. Overall, we had eight event champions and 27 personal bests. We will compete at Tabor College next week."
