The McPherson High School track and field team hosted its annual home invitational at McPherson Stadium on Thursday afternoon. In results, the boys and girls team were victorious against all eight schools that participated.

On the girls' side, McPherson dominated with a score of 174.5 points. Valley Center High School came the closest behind McPherson with 95 points.

Emma Ruddle and Avery Howard continued to outrun their opponents in the 100-meter hurdles, with Ruddle capturing first and Howard finishing second. However, for the first time this season, Ruddle finished second the 100-meter dash, falling second to Alli Burke from Valley Center. Autumn Allen finished third behind the two sprinters. Kassidy Beam won in the 800 as well. The Lady Pups also took first in both relays. They won the 4x100, which included Ruddle, Allen, Janae Spaich and Jordan Bailey. The 4x400 involved Emily Whorton, Beam, Jaylyn Whorton and Natalie Hedlund.

Allen was victorious in the triple jump, while Rhian Swanson in the long jump, and Grace Pyle in the shot put, finished second in their events. Kallie Jost took third in the javelin throw.

The boys tallied up 148.5 points. Salina South High School came from behind with 116.5 points and Valley Center with 92.

It was a big day for the sprinters. Gage Shook won in the 100, and Brandon Yowell came in second. The 4x100 team, which included Shook, Yowell, Jace Kinnamon and Talyn Huff were also victorious. Distance runner Cody Achilles won gold in the 3200. Matt Ramey finished second in the 300-meter hurdles and Aren Trost was placed third in both 110 hurdles and pole vault. Seth Madron also had a strong performance after winning the high jump. Jake Alexander finished second behind Madron. Dawson Van Goethem won the discus throw, and Cody Stufflebean finished second in the shot put, and third in the javelin throw.

Next meet for the Bullpups will be on Friday, May 3rd at the Salina Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
