PRATT — The Smoky Valley High School boys tennis team will enter regionals and state as Central Kansas League champions after Monday’s meet in Pratt.
The league championship came down to Smoky Valley and Hesston with the Vikings edging the Swathers by four team points. Third-place Larned was well behind the top two teams as the CKL has been dominated by Smoky Valley and Hesston all season long.
Smoky Valley and Hesston reached the finals in all four brackets, but the Vikings won three of four to claim the title.
In singles, Cole Brumbaugh won the No. 2 division while Jake Lucas took second at No. 1 singles.
Both Smoky Valley doubles teams were victorious as Matt Lucas and Johann Rauchholz took first at No. 1 and Carson Byers and Cade Schneider took first at No. 2.
Smoky Valley will look to qualify its entire team for state on Friday as the Vikings head to Hesston for regionals.
