HESSTON — It was another record-breaking day for the Smoky Valley High School track and field team. On Thursday, the Vikings dominated the Hesston Invitational.

The boys scored 141 points, beating out Hillsboro High School (123), while the girls tallied 135 points, outlasting Cheney (119).

Tim Lambert continues to shatter records before he moves on to Kansas State. The senior won three events and broke the 300-meter hurdle record with a time of 38.58. Lambert also took gold in the 4x100 relay team, which also included Andrew Peters, Lane Schrag and Carson Windholz. Lambert was named Most Outstanding Male Athlete of the Meet afterward. Distance runner Ryan Heline won two golds in both the 1600 and 3200. Heline, along with Joshua Peterson, Stephen Peterson and Julian Maldonado were also victorious in the 4x800.

Belle Peters led the Lady Vikings by winning gold in the pole vault and the long jump. She also legged in the winning 4x800 relay team, which also included McKinley Johnson, Rylee Ebert, Abby Rose and Gracie Lambert. Peters was also named Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Meet after her strong performance.
