LINDSBORG — The Smoky Valley High School boys tennis team is sending two doubles teams to the state tournament in Pratt, and both teams have the chance to bring home state medals.

In fact, Matt and Jake Lucas have their eyes on a state championship.

The duo have been outstanding this year and are coming off a seventh-place finish last year. The Lucas brothers finished second at regionals to a very talented Central Plains team last Friday.

While Cole Brumbaugh and Johann Rauchholz both have state experience, they do not have much experience playing together.

Brumbaugh is a state medalist in singles, while Rauchholz is a state medalist in doubles with former Viking Nick Reinert. But together they finished fifth at regionals and will be a tough out at state.

The 3A State Tennis Tournament will be held at the Prairie Village-Harmon Park Tennis Complex beginning at 10 a.m.
