PRAIRIE VILLAGE—In the Class 3A State Tennis Tournament, Matt Lucas and Jake Lucas, of Smoky Valley High School, took home third-place medals in doubles on Saturday.

The Lucases fell to Max Wheeler and Luke Swan of Wichita Collegiate 6-3,6-3 in the semifinals.The duo bounced back and defeated Joe Schmidt and Duncan Paul from Kansas City Christian, 6-2, 6-2. Wheeler and Swan later won the championship, beating out Brett Leibl and Devin Ran Central Plains.

Also on the Viking's doubles team, Cole Brumbaugh and Johann Rauchhol finished fifth after beating out Hesston's Jeb Carlson and Issac Decker.

With only the two double duos throughout the tournament, the Vikings scored a total of 24 points, earning them a third-place finish with a plaque. Smoky Valley fell behind Wichita College (39) and Kansas City Christian (37).
