It was a busy week in McPherson as the school year is coming to an end. There has been some recent announcements in regarding the Bullpup's senior student-athletes before their graduation.

Kretzer receives All-American award

 McPherson High School's Mya Kretzer was honored with the Leadership and Character All-American Award from the United States Marine Corps and National Wrestling Coaches Association on Wednesday afternoon.

Kretzer is one of the top female wrestlers in the country, who helped paved the way for all female wrestlers in the state of Kansas and now the girls wrestling program is officially a sport by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.

Kretzer is a three-time state champion and will continue on her wrestling career at Baker University, where she will be joining its ROTC program.

Radke to wrestle at NEO

 Radke has finally found a home as he will continue his wrestling career at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

Radke has been a wrestling standout for all four years, and had a decorative senior career at 160 pounds. Radke set goals for himself before the start of his final season. That included winning his first state title in the Class 5A Wrestling Tournament. He is now third all-time in career wins with 122 and broke the record for most takedowns (256) in a season in school history and his career, 470. He is also ranked seventh all-time in takedowns in the state of Kansas. He will be inducted in McPherson's Wall of Fame this coming December as an automatic qualifier.

He holds a 4.2 GPA which made him academic all-state. NEO, located in Tulsa, brought back its wrestling program in 2013-14. Since then, it won the national championship three times. Radke can could fit right in..

 Burghart to play all-star game

Earlier this week, Jaycee Burghart has been selected to play in the Kansas Volleyball Association All-Star game at Lee Arena in Washburn University.

Burghart, who recently signed to play volleyball at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, will play on the red team.

The Red Team includes a former the Bullpup's former volleyball assistant coach now the head coach at Burlington High School, Diane Marshall.

Burghart has been active for all four years for McPherson High School. She was voted AVCTL Division-III Most Valuable Player last season for the Bullpup's volleyball team. She is also a member of the girls' basketball team that won state in 2018 and finished fourth last season. She's a member of the girls' soccer team, that is currently in postseason play.

The all-star game will begin at 6:30 p.m.
