BELLEVUE Neb.—The McPherson College volleyball team had a difficult day on the hardwood on Friday. The Bulldogs went north for the weekend to play four games in the Labor Day Classic hosted by Bellevue University. The opened the classic with a pair of straight set losses, falling in the morning to the GPAC's Doane University, then dropping the afternoon match to Montana Tech.

In the morning match, the Bulldogs struggled stopping the Doane hitters and against the Tigers' servers. Doane out hit the Bulldogs, holding a 50-to-28 advantage in kills, and from the backline, the Tigers tallied 11 service aces to just three for the Bulldogs.

In the second match of the day, the Bulldogs got down two sets to none, but started to get things rolling in the third set. They pushed the Diggers past the 25 point threshold, but couldn't find a way to get ahead in the end. The Bulldogs continued to struggle at the net, hitting just .061 against the Diggers.

"It was great to compete against two high level programs today," Head coach Cory Cahill said. "Though we didn't come out with wins, we took a lot away from the matches. I am excited to see where this group can go if they can continue to grow from these experiences."

The Bulldogs will try and get things back on track on Saturday in their final two matches of the classic. They will get back on the court at 9 a.m. against Lawrence Tech (Mich.), and then wrap up the classic with a 3 p.m. matchup against the Peru State College Bobcats.
