LINDSBORG—The Bethany volleyball team was back in action at Hahn Gymnasium today, hosting Ottawa University. The Swedes fell in this KCAC battle 3-2.

Bethany was able to take care of business in the first two sets putting the Braves down, 25-20 and 25-14. However, from there, Ottawa turned things on then and came back and took the next three sets, 25-21, 25-23 and 15-8.

Three Swedes earned double-digit kills led by Paola Sanabria-Lopez, junior hitter, with 22 kills. Jordan Valentine, sophomore middle, and Ivona Vohvodic, senior setter, each had 11 kills. Meanwhile, Vojvodic had 44 assists in the match. Defensively, Haley Reifsteck, junior libero, had 26 digs, while Vojvodic had 19 digs. As a team the Swedes had six blocks, while Serenetiy Storey, senior middle, got in on four of those six.

The Swedes return to the court for the second game of the First Bank Kansas Smoky Hill Showdown on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Bethany will take on Kansas Wesleyan at 7 p.m. in Salina.
