NEWTON – The McPherson High School cross country team competed at the Newton Invitational on Saturday.

The top performers were Courtney Eickbush for the girls, and Cody Achilles for the boys. Eickbush finished 27th with the time of 22:39, and Achilles took 53rd with the time of 18:51.

“Overall the weather cleared just in time for us to run today,” McPherson Head coach Aspen Lott said. “With so many fast teams in this meet, we held pretty strong today. However, our times were not where I was expecting us to be. We did have a couple freshman boys who PR’d. Hoping to get back to the level I know we can compete at in El Dorado next week.”
