VICTORIA—The Bethany men's and women's cross country teams traveled to compete at the FHSU Tiger Open and saw a handful of personal and lifetime bests in the meet.

The women's team kicked off the meet led by junior, Sam Trejo who finished the race in 32nd place with a time of 20:50.7 in her debut as a Swede. Teammate, sophomore, Hannah Price followed placing 36th with a lifetime best 5k of 20:56.9. The team was rounded off by freshman, Zoe Auld who placed 72nd and matched her season best of 22:46 and sophomore, Makayla Thull, who placed 94th, also running a season best time of 27:03.1.

Coach, Julio Martinez was pleased with the progress the women's team made and thought it was a great stepping stone on their way to the conference meet, "the woman went out and competed well. It was a great experience for them to go out and compete against a strong competitive field."

 On the men's side, sophomore, Sean Conklin led the way with a life time best 8k of 28:15 on his way to placing 61st. Junior, Ajay Dandu and senior, Curtis Ivanoff ran season best times of 28:44.3 and 28:54.9 placing 68th and 70th, receptively. The men's team was rounded out by sophomore, Evan Crotinger and freshman, Cayden Brozek who also ran lifetime bests of 29:24, and 31:14 placing 86th and 108th, respectively.

Martinez said the men's team went out, competed, and were aggressive throughout the race just as they had planned, "I was pleased with how the guys competed today and how they worked together throughout the race to achieve some personal and lifetime bests" said coach Martinez. "Our guys have been putting in the work and have had some great workouts in the process and today it showed."

The Swedes will compete at the NAIA Mid-States classic in Winfield on Oct, 26 against a strong field of NAIA runners from across the country.
