LINDSBORG— The Swedes football team was back in action in the Bethany Homecoming contest. This game also celebrated Lindsborg's Hyllingsfest celebration. Bethany was unable to overcome the no. 25 Sterling Warriors, falling in the contest 44-0.

Sterling was able to score on their first drive to take a 7-0 lead. The Warriors then scored once more in the first quarter to lead the game, 14-0. Sterling then scored three more touchdowns and added a safety to their number to take a 37-0 lead into half time. Finally, the Warriors were able to score on their first possession of the third quarter to take a 44-0 advantage that they would carry through the end of the contest.

The Bethany offense was once again led by Austin Denson, junior quarterback, with 15 completions on 32 attempts for 142 yards. Darren Rittwage, freshman receiver, led the Swedes with four catches for 63 yards. Rittwage also had six punts for 183 yards, an average of 30.5 yards per kick.

Defensively, Jeron Caraway, senior linebacker, led the Bethany defense with 12 tackles including one for a loss of two yards. A trio of Swedes had seven tackles; Cleophus Brooks, senior defensive back; Michael Moore, freshman linebacker; and Jimmy Pitts, freshman defensive back. Moore also got in on two tackles for a loss of five yards.

The Swedes return to the field on Saturday, Oct. 25 when they host Tabor College in the KCAC network ESPN 3 game of the week. Bethany kicks off with the Bluejays at 1:30 p.m. inside Anderson Stadium.
