Inman, Moundridge fall in Sterling

STERLING – Inman and Moundridge's volleyball team's season has come to an end after a loss in the Class 2A sub-state tournament in Sterling.

The Lady Teutons held the No. 6 seed made an early upset in the first round after upsetting third seed Trinity Catholic High School, 15-25, 25-21, 25-19. However, that was it for Teutons as they fall to the No. 2 seed Garden Plain High School in the semifinals 21-25, 14-25. Garden Plain would go on and stun the top-seed Sedgwick High School 25-20, 25-20, in the finals. Inman ends its season with a 19-18 record.

Moundridge, which finished third in state last season, was one-and-done after falling to fifth-seed Sterling High School, 25-20, 25-22. Under first-year coach Holli Carter, the Lady Wildcats finished with 25-13 record.

Smoky Valley eliminated in Sub-State semifinals

COUNCIL GROVE— It was an improving year for the Smoky Valley High School volleyball team, but it all came to an end in Council Grove as the Lady Vikings lost in Class 3A sub-state semifinals on Saturday.

The Vikings were the No. 2 seed and beat out Minneapolis High School, 25-15, 25-22. However, the Lady Vikings were stunned in the semifinals, where they lost to St. George-Rock Creek, 25-18, 25-10. Silver Lake High School would eventually win the sub-state finals. Smoky Valley ends its year with a 23-14. 

Little River falls in Sub-State Championship

GREENSBURG—Little River High School volleyball fought all the fall in the Class 1A sub-state finals in Kiowa County. It came down to the final set, but Little River fell to Minneola High School on Saturday. The Redskins were a No. 2 seed after winning its home regionals last weekend. Little River beat out Attica High School in two sets, 26-24, 25-15 before falling to Minneola. Minneola will advance to the Class 1A state tournament. The Redskins finish their season with a 29-9 record.
