WINFIELD—The Bethany College men's soccer team fell to Southwestern College 3-1 on Wednesday night in a snowy KCAC match.

With the turf covered in a blanket of snow, the Swedes put together a strong effort but came up short. The Moundbuilders got on the scoreboard in the 17th minute, and again in the 18th minute to make the score 2-0 heading into halftime. Both teams continued to create chances but eventually the Moundbuilders found the net again in the 61st minute to make it 3-0. However, the Swedes would not go away. Tanner Williams, sophomore forward, received a cross from Zen Baatjes, senior forward, and placed the ball in the back of the net to make it 3-1 in the 70th minute.

As a team, the Swedes got off five shots against the Moundbuilders' defense with three of them on frame. Southwestern was able to get 14 shots in the game. Roland Kiss, sophomore goalkeeper, was credited with five saves. This loss brings the Swedes overall season record to 5-11 and 2-8 in KCAC competition.

The Bethany College men's soccer team will host the University of Saint Mary on Saturday for a tough KCAC match. The Swedes and Spires will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 at Anderson Stadium. The game will the senior night for the Swedes 2019 senior class.
