LINDSBORG— The Bethany College women's soccer team got on the board early against Bethel College to help secure a 2-0 win and finish the regular season on Tuesday night in Lindsborg.
The Swedes' attack did not waste anytime applying pressure to the Threshers' defense. In the fourth minute, Kastel Heinold, junior forward, found the back of the net off of a cross from Juliana Lopez, freshman forward.
Both teams battled throughout the half with the Swedes seeing more of the opportunities. In the 21st minute, Lopez played another ball across the box to an oncoming Hailey Walker, junior midfielder, who converted the goal to make it 2-0 heading into halftime. The Swedes did not let up in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net. The defensive unit for the Swedes was able to shut down the Threshers' attack and come away with the shutout victory.
"I'm really proud of our team and the season we put together this year," Swedes coach Justin Olson said. "We learned a lot about each other and started to play well at the right time. Great win tonight to give us momentum heading into the postseason on Saturday."
As a team, the Swedes got off 21 shots against the Threshers' defense with 12 of them on frame. Bethel was able to get seven shots in the game.
