McPHERSON — Hutchinson High School sophomore Chloe Inskeep continued her stellar season on Thursday at the McPherson Invitational.


Inskeep led the Salthawks with a fourth-place finish and a time of 21:58.12. Clearwater’s Hayley Trotter finished third, while Dodge City’s duo of Norma Rodriguez and Serenity Larson rounded out the top four.


Hutchinson also received a top-10 performance from junior Stella Foster, who placed seventh with a time of 22:20.73.


Juniors Perla Rodriguez (38th, 25:54.2) and Grayci Keeler (43rd, 26:23.82), and freshman Lisa Selgrade (44th, 26:24.38) rounded out the Hutchinson lineup.


The Salthawks placed fourth out of nine teams with 127 points. Winfield (86), Hays (51) and Dodge City (38) rounded out the top three.


Crusaders take ninth at McPherson Invite


McPHERSON — The Buhler High School girls cross country team sent six runners to the McPherson Invitational on Thursday.


Junior Evelyn Staib had the best time for Buhler with a 39th-place finish and a time of 25:59.65. Staib was followed closely behind by freshman teammate McKenzie Welch, who placed 40th at 26:04.56.


Junior Maya Dorantes placed 47th with a time of 27:11.23, while seniors Aidyn White and Tawny Bush placed back to back in 52nd and 53rd place, respectively.


Freshman Diborah Simmons rounded out the Buhler lineup with a 56th-place performance and a time of 29:40.48.


Buhler placed ninth as a team with 216 points.


Two Bullpups compete at home invite


McPHERSON — Two McPherson High School girls cross country runners competed at their home invitational on Thursday.


The Bullpups were led by senior Courtney Eickbush and her 12th-place finish. Eickbush finished with a time of 22:48.45.


McPherson junior Evie Elder also competed for the Bullpups, placing 23rd with a time of 24:02.62.
