Congressional Candidate Tracey Mann Visits McPherson
Republican congressional candidate Tracey Mann visited McPherson on Thursday as he traveled across central Kansas the week before the August 4 primary election.
Mann, a Quinter native, is a candidate for the Republican nomination for Kansas’ First Congressional District. The visit gave Mann an opportunity to talk about his campaign but also to hear concerns from McPherson residents.
Agriculture is a major concern across the First District. Mann, who grew up on a farm, spoke about the need to boost demand for agricultural products.
“One of the biggest things we have to do is get commodity prices up,” Mann said. “When our economy shut down because of the pandemic it crippled demand and that rippled down the supply chain and hurt our farm economy. As discretionary spending increases and the economy reopens, demand for commodities will go up and that will boost our economy.”
The candidate also expressed support for President Trump’s policies at the border.
“We have to secure our southern border. Failure to do so results in problems - a drug problem, an illegal immigration problem and a human trafficking problem,” Mann told the audience at a farm just outside of McPherson.
Mann served as the 50th Lieutenant Governor of Kansas.
