McPherson Center for Health adds doctor

McPherson Center for Health recently announced the addition of a physician to its family medicine and obstetrics clinics. Ruth Lehman Wiens, MD, is now scheduling patients at McPherson Medical and Surgical Associates, 1000 Hospital Drive and will begin seeing patients in Jan. 2021.

Dr. Lehman Wiens received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemstry and Molecular Biology from Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana. She received her Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita in 2017. Her residency was completed at the Wesley Family Medicine Residency program in Wichita with a focus in Obstetrics.

She completed a medical student international rotation at Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico and an international resident rotation at Mattru Jong, Sierra Leone, West Africa. She also has experience in emergency and inpatient coverage throughout Kansas, including McPherson Hospital.

Along with board certification in family medicine, Dr. Lehman Wiens has other certifications in Basic Life Support, Pediatric Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation. She is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. In addition to family medicine, she has special medical interests in women’s reproductive health and obstetrics and is proficient in conversational Spanish.

I’m thrilled to be starting work in the McPherson community. Growing up in Newton I always loved visiting McPherson and I am excited to get to know the people of the town better!”
