Elks secure funding for food bank

 McPherson Elk's Lodge # 502 recently  received a $7,500 grant through the Elk's National Foundation to help support the McPherson County Food Bank

Funds will be used to purchase and supply basic food necessities for residents in need.

]The grant is made possible through the Elk's National Foundation, funded through three specific grant programs/projects the local McPherson Elk's Lodge applied for including "The Gratitude Grant, " The Beacon Grant," and "The Spotlight Grant."  The primary focus of each of these grants this fiscal year is to assist  with fundamental needs and to lessen the effects of economic impact felt by the COVID pandemic.

"Our local lodge, McPherson Elk's Lodge # 502, felt that it was important to help lessen these burdens in our McPherson County area communities through helping with this funding to the McPherson County Food Bank," said Daryl Patrick, club secretary. 

The McPherson Elk's Lodge, Lodge #502m is located at 306 S Main Street in McPherson.

The McPherson Elk's Lodge has had a continuous presence in the McPherson community since June 22, 1899. At 122 years of age, the McPherson Elk's Lodge, Lodge #502, is the oldest Elk's Lodge in the State of Kansas. The lodge meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month.
