Wink, the little dog who started out life with lots of uncertainty is a local tv star. The dog who was once considered a reject, has won the hearts of all who meet him.
Wink and his owner Annette Karr are being featured on the KPTS program, Positively Kansas. The program airs May 24 at 8 p.m.
Karr received Wink in 2008 when Dr. Mark Handlin with Heartland Veterinary contacted her and offered her a little white poodle with one eye. Karr immediately fell in love. Little did she know where the journey with Wink would take her.
Karr uses wink to spread the message that everyone is valuable, no matter what. He has become a symbol of love and self-worth despite his handicap.
“Even though he’s not perfect, he is still worth a million,” said Karr.
Wink has been on t-shirts, has a book written about him, and has been on tv before. He was featured on the KAKE-TV News segment Hatteberg’s People.
Wink the One-Eyed Wonder turned 16 on April 5 and Karr had a party to celebrate. The party was well attended and generated lots of pet food donations. Karr has been filling the blessing boxes around town with pet food ever since.
“There seems to be a great need,” said Karr. “I notice that when I go back to add more a couple of days later, the pet food is always gone, but some of the food for people is still there.”
Karr asks that if you can, please contribute pet food to the blessing boxes to help fill that need. She also hopes everyone tunes in to watch Wink this Friday.
